TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary, benefits and other working conditions are determined by the negotiated agreement between the Polson School District and the PCEA. The workday is established by the Board of Trustees and may increase or decrease in hours dependent upon the needs of the district. Dependent upon the number of hours assigned, the employee may or may not be eligible for insurance benefits.

Job Description
Nursing Assistant
REPORTS TO: Principals, school nurse
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist school nurse in first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff.
- Administer medication in accordance to direction from school nurse and district practice.
- Help with organizing and managing medical records to ensure compliance with State mandates, including immunizations, physical examinations, medical conditions, and related services documentation.
- Aide in conducting vision, hearing, and other screenings as assigned.
- Assist school nurse in ensuring a daily log is maintained, including the documentation of student visits and actions taken.
- Assists in the control of communicable diseases according to procedures.
- Performs all other health-related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school health program.
- Demonstrate punctuality and regular, consistent attendance.
- Demonstrate standards of professional and ethical conduct.
- Demonstrate an awareness of and respect for social, cultural, linguistic, religious, economic, and ability differences in students and their families.
- Maintain strict confidentiality with student and student’s family information.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma and CNA certificate preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Computer, calculator, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax, health-care equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand; twist at neck, bend at waist, reach; travel from building to other sites. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments. The employee may frequently treat minor injuries and symptoms of illness.
MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications.
